Chromatic Structures
Chromatic Structures:
Clay is often thought of as being one of two colors; white porcelain or red-brown stoneware and terracotta. In my Chromatic Structures I challenge this notion by creating naked clay sculpture using vibrant color. Instead of applying color to the surface, I add commercial stains to the clay so I can construct with colors, using a beam of red or piece of blue. The resulting sculptures exemplify the colors available to ceramic artist and challenge previously conceived ideas of colors possible with raw clay.
